Changing state with electronics…Magick IV

It was my original intention to write about Black Magick for this final article of the ‘Magick is the ability to change the state of consciousness at will’ series. I was going to detail the appalling skill of the pharmaceutical companies at persuading Americans to take their obscenely expensive drugs for invented diseases like ‘depression’ using neuro linguistic programming of the public mind, and subtly changing the definition of the disease every year, until just about anyone could come under the diagnosis, and become a life long cash cow battling side effects for ever.

This deliberate targeting of the public with the aim of imposing something that is demonstrably harmful is as much Black Magick as the malicious practitioner who sticks pins in the doll, or freezes a photograph of the prospective victim in a block of ice and puts it in the freezer, with the appropriate ceremony. The fact that these Black Magicians wear Armani suits, drive Mercedes, and move in high financial, social and political circles doesn’t alter their malicious, immoral and unethical aim, or the true character of their actions.

All the data is available in the history of Prozac and Ritalin and their myriad descendants. The way the lobbying money of the pharmaceutical companies is used to write the laws they want to see written, the changing definitions in the psychiatric manuals, the ease with which the know nothing American public can be indoctrinated by TV, etc., etc.

But then I looked forward at the final product. The reader would have been informed about a situation that they probably already realize, though in greater detail than they previously knew. Readers are a minority of Americans already. If you can actually sit down and read an article three or four pages long, you are already in the group that is most likely to have picked up on the infamy of chemical industry, its disregard for anything but the bottom line, and its ability to bribe politicians to work its will, against the welfare of humanity and the planet. Politicians, we know already, belong to a group of non-readers of long Acts that they vote on without even turning the pages.

And you wouldn’t have found out anything really new and useful to fit into your personal life. So I changed my mind and scrapped the research. There’s already enough lies and spinning going on without needing to focus on yet another example of corporate infamy.

So this article is about what is actually an easy way to attain the state of consciousness that famous gurus and yogis have attained after decades of the hard work involved in meditation. It’s known as self-realization, enlightenment, Oneness, and many other terms. It is the state of consciousness of one who has gone beyond the dreams of the ego created world and has awakened into the truth about the Self, beyond the ego.

On 8/11/2006 I posted an article “Out of Body Experiences,” and on 11/05/2006 another entitled “Modern Sound Engineer contacts Ancient Mysteries.” You can pull these out of the archives by putting ‘Monroe Institute’ in the Search box, without the apostrophes. It will be a good background to today’s posting.

Robert Monroe was a sound engineer who was testing the frequency response of some expensive headphones using different frequencies for each ear. He suddenly found himself outside his body and watching himself at the controls of his sound equipment. The shock jolted him back into his body of course, but he now knew that specific frequencies might produce specific and verifiable effects on the brain and psyche. By the time he wrote ‘Journeys out of the Body’ in 1971 he had acquired a great deal of data about the effect of sound on the human brain and knew a lot about leaving and entering the body at will.

Now astral travel has been around since the Stone Age. It’s mentioned in the Bible. People have claimed the experience for centuries, but as is the case with most metaphysical stuff, the ‘experts’ who are consulted about the matter are usually left brained dominants to whom nothing like that ever happens, and who assume hallucination on the part of the relator as an easy way to stay in their comfort zone of intellectual superiority over weirdos.

But as soon as a machine was involved people began to take notice, and a great deal of work was done using the electroencephalograph to check the brain waves of people like meditators, yogis, and unusual men like Swami Rama who proved at the Menninger Institute that he could produce different temperatures at chosen points on his skin, and could produce a straight line on his heart monitor at will, and many other things.

The investigators were too chicken to publish their results because they knew that such control of the involuntary functions of the body was medically impossible. So the reports took years to come out, and Swami Rama’s aim to show the West that the trained Eastern mind can control matters previously though outside control came to nothing, though he had demonstrated it beyond doubt.

Monroe’s Hemi-Sync systems produced phenomena, and that was their aim. Americans are always interested in phenomena. Out of the body travel is cool. Meditating is boring.
When Yehudi Menuhin said that he practiced yoga to help with his musicianship the reporter had to take a picture of the great violinist standing on his head. This was evidence that he was doing something. A picture of him sitting in a chair and meditating would be boring. So a great deal of the brain wave research went off into the realms of unusual, and therefore newsworthy phenomena.

But some people were interested in the fact that the brains of yogis and advanced meditators produced more alpha and theta waves than most other folks, and that these yogis lived happy and contented lives, and had brains that lit up sometimes like Christmas trees when they entered the range of theta waves while still conscious. To these observers it became important to see how the trained brains of the meditators could do things that the untrained brain could not.

Dr. Oster of the Sinai Medical Center in New York had an article in the October 1973 Scientific American about brain wave research he had been conducting, using sound waves, since the 1950’s. He had perfected techniques to have the brain produce any specific wavelengths and frequencies required by modifying the frequency of the sound waves going into the stereo headphones, and these included the specific wave formations found in the brains of experienced meditators when they meditated.

Some excited researchers began to feed their ears with the high attainment frequency generating sounds and realized that they were actually now in the state of advanced meditators without the long period of practice usually required. Of course these impatient ones went too far and began giving themselves the frequency families of the most advanced yogi brains. For a few days they lived in euphoria and then the rest of their bodies caught up with the brains and they had mind problems, relationship problems, and physical symptoms because the rest of their lives were not at the same disciplined level as the lives of the yogis and their brainwaves.

When poor people win the lottery a similar thing often occurs. Their new found fortune evaporates very quickly because they didn’t take on the mind set of a millionaire with their winnings. A readjustment was made by the psyche to keep them in their comfort zone of lack. The ‘quick as a flash’ pseudo yogis didn’t have the mind set acquired by years of discipline and controlled living.

But some of them realized other things about this new and valuable process. By taking things easy and letting the brain get used to the new patterns over longer periods the researchers found that their stress thresholds went up. Things that used to bug them no longer did. They found their minds working more efficiently and their ability to see things as they are, rather than as they ought to be, improved markedly.

Their brains had been re-wired. But they always reached a plateau in their work. Improvements went up to a certain level and then stopped. And it is about the group that persevered to find out how continually to raise the stress threshold, and to turn the plateaus into steady progress of the brain/mind complex that I wish to speak.

It is necessary to understand the simple principles of the stereo headphone system. If for instance one ear receives 220 cycles a second and the other receives 214 cycles a second, called herz by the engineers, then a part of the brain called the olivary nucleus produces in the brain a frequency of the difference between the two incoming frequencies. So the brain would be resonating at a frequency of 6 herz, in the theta range.

It was a Bill Harris, a man who had been a daily meditator for many years without the bells and whistles of the visionaries, who suddenly connected the dots about the plateaus. The powerful waves on the beach are the big, slow ones. The small fast ones don’t have the same power. Every wave form has a frequency and an amplitude. The bigger the amplitude the more power the wave has.

So say you want to get the brain resonating at about 10 herz, in the middle of the alpha range, where creative ability is very high. You could do this using ANY two carrier frequencies that differ by ten. Putting in 250 and 240 herz would give you results, and eventually also a plateau of achievement.

Bill Harris realized that the plateau effect could be eliminated by then using lower frequencies with a difference of ten herz. The wave formation using 190 and 180 would have the same frequency, but the ten herz resonance would occur with greater power, a higher amplitude wave. The brain would readjust to the new stress level and take on a new and higher level of organization.

So, Bill Harris tested all these matters and founded a company to distribute this Holosync technology to interested metaphysicians. He also found the scientific answer to the question about how continually giving the brain the minor stress of the applied frequencies also gives that brain the chance to reorganize its wiring to accommodate higher and higher levels of stress, and therefore higher and higher levels of organization, until it produces what some researchers call an Awakened Mind. A mind where right and left brain work together in total harmony without one or the other being continually dominant.

Each new level of brain organization achieved by this method has the ability to deal with input that would once have overwhelmed it at the lower level, rather like the weight lifter, who after years of continually and efficiently stressing his muscles at higher and higher levels, can now lift with ease the weights that would have severely damaged his body a few years before.

The book that explains how Bill Harris and his researchers reached the goal of realizing the Oneness of everything as an established state of consciousness is Thresholds of the Mind. It explains the science behind the CD’s. As is usual, the better you understand what is going on the more effective the procedure.

The system takes time indeed, but little effort, and is explained on the website and in the material of the company at www.centerpointe.com. They will send you a free demo CD without obligation.

When I began using the system I was surprised to find how quickly my stress threshold went up. I found myself dealing calmly with circumstances that would have freaked me out just a few weeks previously. And all that was needed was a CD player, stereo headphones and the ability to read and understand simple, literate instructions.

This is not the ‘Lazy Man’s Way to Enlightenment’ in the sense that the practitioner does nothing. Some discipline is involved. But people in 172 countries have realized how that becomes effortless after experiencing even a few of the fruits from the new trees that continually appear in the ever expanding orchard of the psyche.
