I recently had a visit from two friends. One had had some serious problems with his teeth and told me about his fluoride treatment. The other tells me that she uses a fluoride mouth wash. I was stunned that two alert and aware people and their dentists had been taken by the lies of the drug industry, when they were otherwise so aware of the deceits continually imposed on the public in the name of profit at all costs, particularly someone else's costs.

Their visit reminded me of my favourite DVD V for Vendetta, which I have viewed about fifty times in a couple of languages. This very British movie is about a person badly damaged by a secret project, one of the ways in which the government keeps people in a perpetual state of fear in order to rule them with fanatical religious posturing. He embarks on a vendetta against the people he knows were responsible.

He takes on the persona of the British folk hero Guy Fawkes, who attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament, and wears a Guy Fawkes mask to hide the terrible burns he endured. He knows the inside workings of the administration, and the tissue of lies they have woven to stay in power.

Eventually even some of those trying to catch him as he kills member after member of the clique in power, and blows up symbolically significant buildings, begin to realize that he is right. The government is saturated with secret criminal activities that must be kept secret for them to stay in power.

V as he is called, is making clear to the public what is going on. As he says, “People should not be afraid of their government; the government should be afraid of the people."

I heard comments of a group of teenagers who watched this DVD. Only one of them got what it was about. In honor of Tyler, the one thirteen year old of the group able to think, I began a series of booklets about secret machinations of the government to bring about various circumstances that the public must NOT understand.

Quality water is so vital to good health, and yet the lies about the benefits of fluoride in water are still being accepted, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. Children are even being given fluoride rinses in schools. Now we know why these lies became official policy. It is an interesting story.

Readers of pieces like this are used to finding out that corporations, business interests, and government agencies are often behind schemes to deceive the public about products and treatments, sometimes for decades. It’s just their ingrained policy to deceive, even when it isn't necessary for any reason.

It is always interesting to find the motives for such deceptions. Usually, of course, it is money, often many millions of dollars. Sometimes it is so that some officials will save face, no matter what the cost in health is to the innocent and trusting public. But the
newly discovered bottom line on the continuing pro-fluoride propaganda was a surprise

For over forty years, even when government sponsored research showed the undeniable effects of fluoride poisoning on millions of Americans, the news was never made public. Often the exact opposite of the results was what was published. The motive for this behavior has remained a mystery to health writers for decades but the mystery has been recently solved because of intensive research using the Freedom of
Information Act.

Let's quickly review known facts that have been kept quiet or misquoted for years.

In 1982 a member of a blue ribbon committee of the U.S. Public Health Service,
( U.S.P.H.S.) called together by the Surgeon General said 'You would have to have rocks in your head, in my opinion, to allow your child more than 2 ppm (parts per million)fluoride in their drinking water.' Another added, 'I think we all agree on that.' The conclusions from this same committee, as published by the same U.S.Public Health Service, recommended that 4 ppm be allowed in the drinking water!!

In 1980 the same U.S.P.H.S. had contracted with Batelle Research Institute to do studies to see if fluoride caused cancers. In 1988 the results showed that fluoride definitely caused a form of liver cancer, some oral cancers, and possibly bone cancer. The U.S.P.H.S. covered up everything except the possibility of bone cancer. Then the Under Secretary of Health James Mason assigned the ex-FDA Commissioner Frank
Young to re-evaluate even this conclusion (water it down).

So they collected additional data from the National Cancer Institute that bone cancer rates were almost 50% higher in men living in fluoridated areas. Then they received even more data from Proctor and Gamble (Crest toothpaste) showing a dramatic increase in bone tumors because of fluoride exposure. As guardians of their political party and its corporate friends, and not of the Public Health, they did their duty, and in the face of their own evidence claimed that fluoride did not cause cancer. What is going on?

Procter and Gamble, (Crest toothpaste) tried to cover up the results of their studies that showed that as little as one half of the usual amount of fluoride normally added to public water supplies would cause measurable genetic damage, and that fluoride causes tumors and pre-cancerous growths.

In 1993 the National Academy of Sciences stated that up to 80% of the children living in fluoridated areas have dental fluorosis, and that the incidence among African-American children is twice that of other children. They also spoke of other studies showing that fluoride causes genetic damage and causes normal cells to become cancerous. Then what did they do with their own data? They gave fluoride a clean bill of health!

Also in 1993 our friends in the U.S.P.H.S. put out a study that stated "...in cultured human and rodent cells, the weight of the evidence leads to the conclusion that fluoride exposure results in increased chromosome aberrations (read 'genetic damage')" Then they set about discounting the importance of their own findings. Is there a pattern here?

In 1990, 1991, and 1992 even the Journal of the AMA, no friend of the public, published separate articles relating increasing hip fracture rates to areas of fluoridation. The New England Journal of Medicine in March 1990 had an article showing how fluoride treatment of osteoporosis causes bone fractures. These were not news items. Big advertisers would have pulled their ads if newspapers had reported on these matters.

Osteoporosis is actually one of the first signs of poisoning from fluoride in water, and as little as 0.7 ppm has been associated medically with skeletal fluorosis. Researchers all over the world, and even Procter and Gamble who make fluoridated toothpastes, have found that fluoride causes genetic damage, and that fluoride increases the cancer causing ability of other chemicals.

Why then is the public still told lies after decades of results about the dangers of fluoride? Why did the fluoridation of water even get a nod when the evidence for fifty years has been to the contrary?

John Yiamouyiannis has a PhD in Biochemistry, and is known internationally as an authority on the biological effects of fluoride. His conclusion was published in a 1993 Q/A report and is interesting in the light of the most recent stunning discovery in 1997 of the real reasons for the official fifty year cover up of the situation.

His estimates include fluoridation being responsible for the chronic poisoning of over 130 million Americans, of a large proportion of the 40 million suffering from arthritis, of more than 8 million children whose discolored teeth indicate their level of fluoride poisoning, of about 2 million Americans who suffer allergic or allergic like reactions to fluoride, of about 35,000 who die from fluoridation every year and about 10,000 who die from fluoridation induced cancers every year. These are horrendous figures and well established. The five pages of the Q/A document I shall reference towards the end of this
article had 235 scientific references appended.

His 1993 conclusion as to why in spite of all the known dangers some
people are pushing fluoridation more than ever is this:

"In my opinion, the conclusion is inescapable. Officials of the U.S.
Public Health Service, the American Dental Association, and Procter and
Gamble, as well as others, are more concerned with their reputations
than they are about the health and welfare of the very people they
claim to serve."

But in 1998, diligent work by medical writer Joel Griffiths and Chris Bryson of the B.B.C.and the Manchester Guardian finally uncovered what people like myself, who have fulminated against fluoride for 25 years or more, never even suspected. 'It’s always worse than you could even have imagined,' seems to be the rule in underhanded government activities.

The researchers obtained hundreds of once-secret WW II documents, including declassified material from the Manhattan Project, the group that built the atomic bomb. The papers showed how millions of pounds of sodium fluoride needed for the manufacture of the uranium became a leading health hazard in the atomic bomb program.

During the Cold War it became impossible for the government to tell the truth about what was going on, because of the possible effect on the balance of power. DuPont in Deepwater NJ., was producing millions of pounds of fluoride for the bomb, when there was an accidental release into the area.

Poultry died. The famous peach crops were burned up, and people who ate the produce from the area sometimes vomited all night. The horses were too stiff to work, and the crippled cows had to graze on their knees. It was not possible to overlook what had happened. But it was possible to cover it up.

The chief of the project's toxicology studies, Dr. Hodge wrote secret, worried memos to his boss, Col. Warren about the problems being caused by the release. Remember those two names, Hodge and Warren.

After WWII was over, the New Jersey farmers sued DuPont and the Manhattan project for fluoride damage to their crops and health. The government was shaken by this, and Major General Groves convened secret meetings in Washington requiring the attendance of scores of scientists, the FDA, the Agriculture and Justice people, the U.S. Army Chemical Welfare Service, the Bureau of Standards, and others, including of course, the battalions of DuPont lawyers.

The now declassified documents show how the full forces of the government were mobilized to defeat the New Jersey farmers, whom they are supposed to be serving, according to the Constitution. A memo copied to General Groves noted how the agencies were to be called upon to obtain evidence to be used to protect the government interests in the trial.

In 1946 the U.S. was in full production of A-bombs. It was considered a necessary card in the Cold War game with the Soviets. " If the farmers won it might impede the program's ability to use fluoride," said a lawyer. The reports of human injuries were particularly damaging because of the enormous settlements involved, and of course
the PR risk.

The head of the FDA, Dr. White was told about the serious problems facing the government if he took the wrong action. He did his duty as a government lackey and ignored the public interest. There was no embargo.

The new tests for fluoride were conducted by the U.S. Army Chemical Welfare Service, instead of by the Dept. of Agriculture because it would carry more weight if lawsuits occurred. The memo saying and organizing this was signed by General Groves.

The New Jersey farmers got nowhere with their suit because the government refused to divulge how much fluoride DuPont had vented during WWII on the grounds that "Disclosure would be injurious to the military security of the United States." (sound familiar?) The farmers received token payments, some in the region of $200, adding insult to injury,a not uncommon official practice.

It was also the same atomic bomb scientists who played a prominent role in the first water fluoridation project in Newburgh N.Y. The chairman of the committee on the advisability of adding fluoride was the familiar Dr. Hodge. Other leading members of the associated Pentagon group were to join the same committee. Their military
association was kept secret. Dr. Hodge was called a pharmacologist for example.

The committee recommended that Newburgh be fluoridated. The reason given was to answer the question of the cumulative effects, beneficial or otherwise, on tissues and organs other than teeth.

The declassified documents show clearly that actually this was human data needed by the Pentagon, whose atomic bomb workers would have to be exposed to fluoride for the duration of the Cold War. The data was to help in protecting the Pentagon from law suits when the people who were sick eventually found out why they were sick.

Over the next ten years the people of Newburgh were studied openly by the State Health Dept. of New York, and secretly by Program F, that received blood and placenta samples from the cooperative Health Dept.

The biological ' proof'' that small amounts of fluorine were safe for U.S. citizens was delivered by the now too familiar Dr. Hodge, based on work done at the Rochester Atomic Energy Research Project.

This spurious proof was provided in anticipation of lawsuits against the bomb program for human injury. The university medical faculty involved included both Dr. Hodge and Dr. (Col) Warren, the Manhatten Project’s top medical officer. It probably won't increase the credibility of these two witnesses if you note that the top-secret Program F work was done in the Atomic Energy Facility, funded by the Atomic Energy Commission, and housed in the Strong Memorial Hospital, where unsuspecting patients were injected
with toxic doses of radioactive plutonium, to give the Pentagon human data. You may have heard of that from other outraged sources. The same sort of thing that happened in the movie V for Vendetta.

The Strong Memorial Hospital experiments may be dealt with in a future booklet. It’s a breathtaking story of the hypocrisy of officialdom who were pointing fingers at the Nazis and Soviets who experimented on human beings.

The reason for Program F's interest in water fluoridation was not just " to counteract the local fear of fluoride on the part of residents" (Dr. Hodge's official lie) It was to provide the human studies they needed for the program, just as in the case of plutonium.

Now we know that it was scientists from the atomic bomb program who secretly
planned and implemented the first fluoridation experiment just so that they could study the blood and tissue samples of the citizens.

This news is now proven public property. Have you heard about it from the media who are so anxious to talk about OJ, or the weird antics of Michael Jackson or one of the current freaked out female celebrities.

Maybe they are missing out something really important, in case their ad revenue gets pulled. Your health is way below ad revenue in importance

You may have heard of the researcher Dr. Mullinex who found that IQ was negatively affected by the fluoride in toothpaste? I have written about her and her wrongful dismissal in other places.

Well she applied for a grant to continue her study of the effect of fluoride on the human brain. Her request was turned down by the U.S. National Institutes of Health which informed her that: "Fluoride does not have central nervous system effects." A consultant on Mullenix's CNS studies was, guess who? The same Dr. Hodge, who had authored the original 1944 proposal to study the effect of fluoride on the Central Nervous System.

What a coincidence! He is everywhere. "He never once mentioned the CNS work he had done for the Manhattan Project." said Mullinex. (CNS means Central Nervous System)

Enough has been said to show how self serving has been the lies of the pro-fluoride propaganda. Here are some references for those who need them:

What about the fluoride in your toothpaste? Does fluoride suddenly become safe if it is peppermint flavored? Unless you search diligently you are unlikely to find any toothpaste in the stores that do not contain fluoride, and all of them say it makes their toothpaste better.

So go to the American Dental Association who defend the fluoride business. One of the first things they say is that fluoride is found naturally in water and is necessary for bone and tooth health. That is a half truth, used to tell a lie. The fluoride that is found naturally in streams and rivers is calcium fluoride. It is barely soluble in water. It is helpful to teeth and bone formation. The amount that dissolves is very little and takes a long time to do so.

The fluoride used by Du Pont is sodium fluoride, a quite different substance, not found in rocks and VERY soluble in water. They rely on the know nothing American public to be ignorant that there are many fluorides with differing properties. Sodium fluoride is also a waste product of the aluminium industry. They are happy to have a captive consuming public to get rid of their poisonous waste product.

The other tactic of the dental associations is to say that there is no scientific debate about it and that the only people who oppose it are crackpots. That is the well known
governmental method of crushing dissent. Linus Pauling, who won two Nobel prizes was called a crackpot because he advocated taking vitamin C for health reasons, instead of drugs Q,R,S, etc.

Every powerful interest group uses it because calling people names has been found very effective in America. It switches off any critical faculty because people don’t want to be associated with anyone who is considered crazy. Dissent from a widely held view is considered un-American. Hence the title of the famous sociology book, A Nation of
Sheep.

My own wife, Shirley came up against this problem when she taught school. An edict came down from on high that teachers must include in their other duties the distribution of fluoride mouth rinses to their students.

Shirley with about 25 years of teaching behind her at the time said ‘No!’ The administration could not understand it. EVERYONE knew how beneficial fluorine was to dental health. The school nurse said so. Shirley must have gone senile. But Shirley had read my many articles about fluoride, and how the first death from fluoride rinses occurred because a dental assistant gave the rinse to a three year old whose swallowing reflex was not yet under his control. The child died in a few hours.

If it had been a teacher who did that she would have lost her job immediately and been sued by the parents. As a white coated medical person did it the incident was just collateral damage. The assistant did not lose her job, and was not sued.

Shirley gave as her reason that her job was to care for her students, not poison them, and whatever the school nurse said she Shirley, knew for certain that fluoride was a chronic poison and she was NOT going to give it to her pupils.

The administration tried weasel words and intimidation. Shirley cannot be intimidated by lies. Eventually the principal said that he would do it, and he usually forgot. But a teacher with only two years of service would have been fired. Most of them caved in to the white coat syndrome and poisoned their pupils according to instructions.

But remember, these dentists who recommend fluoride rinses are the same people who recommended mercury amalgams for filling tooth cavities. And they still do, in spite of absolute proof that mercury poisoning is an almost certain consequence of this action.

Remember the Mad Hatter in the Alice story. In Victorian times the people who made the tall beaver pelt hats often became seriously mentally ill and the cause was the mercury used in the construction of the hats. Victorians understood why the Hatter in the story was mad. And we are supposed to believe that in the mouth it poses no danger.

How then can we believe such people when they talk about the fluorides, which every scientist knows are poisonous to animal tissue?What about their no scientific debate statement? Well, some of the earliest opponents of fluoridation were biochemists who had won the Nobel Prize in chemistry.

One of those early opponents was one of the world's leading authorities on enzyme chemistry, Nobel laureate Dr. James Sumner at Cornell University. He said:

"We ought to go slowly. Everybody knows fluorine and fluorides are very
poisonous substances...We use them in enzyme chemistry to poison
enzymes, those vital agents in the body. That is the reason things are
poisoned; because the enzymes are poisoned and that is why animals and
plants die." (Sodium fluoride was a long time ingredient of rat poison. That well known fact was probably the basis of his allusion.)

Dr. James Sumner was one of at least 12 Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry and Medicine, who have either opposed fluoridation or expressed reservations about it. These include Giulio Natta (1963 Nobel Prize in Chemistry), Nikolai Semenov (Chemistry, 1956), Sir Cyril Norman Hinshelwood (Chemistry, 1956), Hugo Theorell (Medicine, 1955),
Walter Rudolf Hess (Medicine, 1949), Sir Robert Robinson (Chemistry, 1947), James B. Sumner (Chemistry, 1946), Artturi Virtanen (Chemistry, 1945), Adolf Butenandt (Chemistry, 1939), Corneille Jean-François Heymans (Medicine, 1938), William P. Murphy (Medicine, 1934), and Hans von Euler-Chelpin (Chemistry, 1929).

This listing, going back to 1929 makes absurd the American Dental Association's claim that there is "no scientific debate" over this issue and that the only people who oppose it are `crackpots'. But people who uncritically accept the statements of ANYBODY who is wearing a white coat aren’t going to know that, or believe it if you tell them
otherwise.

If you believe the dental association you probably believe the government too. Here is the answer to that attitude: If you still believe that the government can be trusted ask the Indians and the Whales and the Katrina survivors.

When the Americans presented their fluoride evidence to the European scientists, just about every country in Europe instantly forbade the use of fluorides in any material that could enter the body. And they still do. Are they all crackpots?

The teeth of the children in those countries are superior to those of the teeth of American children. The only country where tooth damage approaches that of the level in America is Ireland, which has instituted fluoridation of the drinking water.

Early and recent research on the pineal gland shows that fluoride affects its function because of its affinity for the calcium salts in the pineal. This may be the reason that American children are reaching puberty earlier and earlier as the hormones produced by the pineal to regulate the advent of puberty are affected.

The hormones serotonin and melatonin are vital to bodily functions, including sleep patterns. Fluoride has been shown to interfere with the production of those hormones in young and old alike.

Fluoride in tissues is bad news all round. Don’t believe those who say otherwise because their income is much more important to them than your health. Surf the Web. It’s harder now in many ways for the government liars and the corporate liars to get away with it. Though if those who know the truth don’t act it won’t make any difference.

That was a major message of V for Vendetta. The public MUST act, or
the lies prevail. Check the movie V for Vendetta from Net Flix or your local DVD rental store. It will be a little confusing for people who don’t know the history of the British folk hero Guy Fawkes, but it contains a great lesson that applies right now, and has done for the past eight years, in a country run by the corporations, for the corporations, where Money is God, and there are only two sins: being poor, and disagreeing with the government.
