This is a direct continuation of post 1, so read that first to avoid confusion. The last sentence was “When you ask you are the lightning rod of IS.

Clearly, the rune IS has a lot to do with some kind of unity. It looks like the digit one in every number system. Let's look at that for a moment, with regard to our own selves.

Most people only feel alive if they are DOING something. BEING something comes a lot later in the comfort level. But action has within itself the roots of our major spiritual problems. It is not possible for an undeveloped person to perform actions without thinking "I am doing this." Consequently, EVERY action, no matter how seemingly insignificant can become an egotistical trap.

Every moment of our lives, until surrender to the inner Self, we run the risk of taking our actions and making them seem significant as a basis for egoic illusion. Moreover, since other people are usually involved in some way, even if only as observers whom we perceive as passing judgment on our actions, there is another trap. Whether our actions produce praise or blame from others the ego becomes hooked on their response and begins to react.

The Muslims understand this trick very well. Every hand made rug and carpet that they produce has a deliberate flaw in it so that they cannot be caught by the praise of a perfect piece of work.

So let's look at the unity of the being who thinks he/she is doing the actions. When ruled by an externalized consciousness we all tend to identify with our body and with the name by which it is known. We tend to think of body and name as one.

Yet we are, in our externalized consciousness not one but many. We are a tremendously complex mixture of aversions, tendencies,addictions, programs and even personalities.

Sometimes it is the two year old who couldn't get Mommy's attention who is using the name and the body. Sometimes it is the Father telling us we are stupid, and will never amount to anything. Sometimes… you get the idea.

The goal of life is to cut through all that garbage from many lifetimes and be NOW who we actually are, the witness of the show. Then IS becomes the perfect symbol for our being, one without any other.

As far as the fixation between name and body that often occurs—some people weaken this attachment by the simple device of changing names, or giving different personal aspects different names and then killing them off, or retiring them from active duty. You could consider the possible advantages of this method. It is based on the esoteric custom of giving the initiate a new name when he begins a new life.

This could happen every day until your body's name doesn't matter to you at all. Only your inner being would have any significance. Consider how many thousands of names your ego has made you answer to over the centuries. And NEVER was the name you clung to the name of your real Self. That name died with the mind that created the current ego by dividing the world into me and not-me. Paul had something when he said, “Each day I die.” It’s a very good idea.

In this posting I am going to have to jump about all over, while keeping IS as a focus. For some of you one part of it will jump out as of paramount importance, others will find a different important emphasis. Go with the flow. Read this several times at different phases of the Moon. The different aspects that come to rise in your personal cycle will be differently affected. Contemplating how different parts of it affected you at different times will give you unusually accurate insights into the complexity of your inner projections and how they are organized. And don't forget...NONE of them is you.

In many magickal initiations it is often made pretty clear that you could use any name you wanted for the Divinity of the initiation. But it is also often mentioned that your aim is beyond the mere gods and goddesses of the various pantheons.

High indeed they are, but beyond them is the Consciousness from which even they came. It is that Consciousness to which we aspire, and to which IS is a path. The Inner Self of every reader is at a higher, or more subtle level than any angel you may have encountered, if you are into the angel habit.

And now what many have suspected can be told, even in a non-initiatic forum such as this...many of the gods and goddesses of various pantheons are beings who became identified with a lower level on the scale and stayed there.

Your immediate potential is much higher than any of the Nature Gods and Goddesses. They know this, and in the main, they will help you go beyond themselves if you are using a path that entails meeting with them. By pushing you along they gain the possibility of elevation themselves.

There is an old English proverb that says, "A duke looks like a king, until a king passes by." Figure out how that applies now and to your future as the witness.

IS can be the arrow of the mystics that flies directly from Malkuth to Kether on the Tree of Life of the Kabbalists. It can also be the bridge that leads you into a realm where you begin to acquire this power and that power, and go up the Tree from side to side, growing more and more powerful magically at every step, but carrying with you the continually increasing burden of a more and more powerful ego that is going to be harder and harder to let go the higher you get.

IS extended is the diameter of the rune circle. The centre of the circle is always on the diameter as you know, but what is that centre? In the Hesychast prayers of the Desert Fathers, the mystics of the Early Church, the technical term 'heart' is used to indicate the centre of the being performing the prayer.

The Greek of the manuscripts about this matter, The Philokalia, use the word cardia' from which we get cardiac obviously, but in the technical language of the Desert Fathers it means not the physical organ, but the centre of being, what they called the spirit.

Going along temporarily with their language, the whole point of the technique was that human beings go through life engaging in activities of body and mind. The sleeping spirit just gets taken along for the ride. By using the Hesychast method the spirit is awakened, which makes the technique one of the most valuable of spiritual practices, in spite of its essential simplicity.

See how this concept is reflected in the geometry of the rune circle, from which everything I have said could have been derived, and was by some people. The centre of the circle is on the extended IS. The viewpoint of spirit is from the perspective of that centre, and looking towards the left side of the rune circle, that viewpoint is the viewpoint of cosmic union.

It is exactly the mirror image of the right hand way of looking at the world. In the right hand way the world happens TO you. In the opposite way, it happens FROM you. You are the centre from which it all emanates, the center point of the cosmic teeter totter, and can come down into either world by a tiny act of will. When you are established at this centre of consciousness the world view is from another dimension at right angles to the one you are in now.

The Trestleboard verse says, “I am a Centre of expression for the primal Will to good that eternally creates and sustains the universe. Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.” This sentence, whoever said it, is from the witness consciousness, not the ego consciousness. The implications are easier to grasp in modern English if you were to put it thus: “I am IS the Way…"

Another similar doorway is the phrase, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Easier to grasp the Inner Realm meaning as, “Before Abraham was, I AM was.” The I am is your true Self.

In the one dimensional world of a micro-creature crawling along a hollow tube of infinitely narrow radius you can tell exactly where the creature is by one measurement. How far is it from the end of the tube. The universe of the creature is one dimensional.

If the tube was a roll of paper you could unroll it so that the creature was now moving about on a sheet of paper. You now need two numbers to say where it is, so many inches along the bottom edge, and then turn through a right angle and go up so many inches. It's how you find a point on a piece of squared paper, or a map. A world where two numbers are needed to pin point a position is a two dimensional world, and you found them by turning through a right angle from the first dimensional world.

Now let's put the creature on a little light bulb hanging from the ceiling of a doll's house room. You need three numbers to say where it is. You use two numbers on the floor to find a point exactly beneath it and then turn through a right angle and go up to where it is. With three coordinates you can pin point a creature in three dimensional space. And the third number is at right angles to the two dimensional world.

But the three dimensional world is the one we seem to live in, the only common exception being the dreamtime world. Length, breadth and height are our three ‘real’ dimensions. What then is the fourth dimension? One thing we know is that it must be at right angles to the other three. You must need four numbers to tell you where something is in a four dimensional world. And man has invented one called space-time, for convenience.

If you went to New York to check out the Statue of Liberty in 1423 you wouldn't see it. New York wasn't there either. If you went to the same coordinates in 1900 both city and statue would be there. You want to catch a bus? Well you need to be there at the same time as the bus is there. This time dimension is used by men to facilitate living in the world they have built up as a mental construct. The witness consciousness viewpoint is from a dimension at right angles to the four dimensions we use on Earth.

In outer space our earth-bound, narrow, concept of time doesn't work. Einstein's whole relativity work was based on the simplicity of the questions he asked himself. One of them was, "What does it mean to say that two things happen at the same time?" Look out towards the spiral nebula in Andromeda. You see Mars on your horizon and a bright star in the nebula "at the same time" but the star you see in the nebula may not even be there at the time you are looking at Mars. The light you see as the star began traveling towards you millions of years ago.

You never see the Sun where it is in the sky. You see where it was about 8 minutes ago. You can NEVER be sure that the Sun is there when you see it. ‘At the same time’ doesn't mean much in the world of outer space.

Your observations depend on the ruler you are using to measure time and that is usually a ray of light and the velocity with which it is moving. The speed of light is constant no matter how you measure it in space. Whether you are moving towards the source of light or away from it.

This doesn't make sense on earth of course. Speeds get added or subtracted according to the speed of the thing from which you take your measurement.

In the spiritual world our earth bound system doesn't work either. There is no time but NOW. Everything is NOW. When Mozart tapped into that creative world he got the whole of his piano concerto in a single instant. When Hamilton was crossing the bridge in Ireland he received the whole theory of quaternions in an instant.

In both cases the neural circuits of their brains were rearranged to deal with the real world of creation, of which this one is a manifestation, and it took both men a long time to translate the enormity of their instant experience into three dimensional terms. Mozart had to write down thousands of notes on paper and Hamilton worked for more than ten years working out the consequences of the absolute and instant certainty that the other dimensional experience given him.

The work and contemplation of the shape and position of IS puts your own limited consciousness into direct contact with the limitless consciousness that began to play the game of hide and go seek with Itself.

You go out of the fourth dimension into the eternal NOW and find that you are a flame of the fire of that consciousness, that you are a wave of the ocean of that consciousness, that it and the I of you are one in essence.

And that one is symbolized and can be accessed by contemplation on the simplest rune that pictures it.

Those who know about karma and reincarnation as more than an interesting theory, are aware of how pointless it is to go on and on, and round and round, life after human life, sometimes on top of the wheel and sometimes at the bottom, but always a helpless passenger who is making the problems of the next life while living this one, and always obeying the rule of forgetting every time around.

Someone at the level of IS is at the top of the stem of the Y of Pythagoras, at the point where the wide left path and the narrow right path form a crossroads. If this is you, then you are at the point of choosing identification with your truly divine inner Self, or branching out to become a great magician, with a later choice of black or white.

I can't, and certainly won't make that choice for you. But that's where you are. The third option, and there are always three before the ultimate level, is that you stop here, entering neither fork, and live an ordinary human life, aided by the insights you have acquired.

One of the insights about the path taken by the practitioner of the Hesychastic method is the scriptural reference "Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray." What this explains is that the method is totally harmless, which isn't true of many less powerful methods, and also that even a fool can do it.

Fool is used in the old sense here, as it was of the Fool of the Tarot. It means simplicity, unencumbered by intellectual, analytical, brilliance or baggage. The scholar is often “A bookful blockhead, ignorantly read, with loads of learned lumber in his head," Such a person is often totally without an opinion of his own, and would never value his own experience, unless someone else had written about it. As the Greek mystic says “He is an ass, carrying a load of other men's books."

You don't have to be a superior human being, mentally speaking, to walk this walk, and you won't come to any harm walking this walk either, as long as you KEEP TO the path. This means keeping on doing it no matter what mental videos appear, or what powers you suddenly acquire, or what wild beasts or demons threaten you on either side. They are only diversions to keep you from knowing who you really are. Ego tricks of desperation.

Using the version of this path that is correct for you enables you to become IS; a single line without branches, a laser beam of focus, established in unity of mind without the fragmentation that is the common lot of those who don't meditate.

You become the strait and narrow path, the Rainbow Bridge, the Sword spanning the Chasm of Fire, and all the other imagery used by various schools to describe the common experience.

Following the path takes you directly into the cause of FA the cosmic fire; the Consciousness from which everything in the game is created—the zero before the 1, the glow behind Kether, that which created the gods worshiped by mankind.

Obviously your body and mind still have a part to play, but you will soon be continually aware that they are not you. They are vehicle and tool respectively, and you will eventually drop both of them anyway, so you may as well get to know what's left when that happens, and know it so thoroughly that you don't need to take up a body and a mind again, unless you volunteer to do so to help those other beings who are still living in the lunatic asylum of the universe, Planet Earth.. And some of them won’t want to leave the lunatic asylum. They will call you the lunatic. Be warned.
So, in this series of posts I am going to give you a pretty complete explanation of the Hesychast technique as applied to your own particular path, whatever it is, and also some techniques I have developed myself over the eons to quickly weaken the ego/body-mind connection.

Then I shall deal with what the greatest of sages have said about how to get to practice being gods and goddesses, to get the feel of what goes on. After that I shall include a few words about what happens after the IS point of the rune circle.

But at the end of this series of posts you will know the way to go. Doing it will be your choice. You may want to find something more jazzy and complicated, I did for thirty years this time, and that even after several lifetimes in the business, so you'll get no finger pointing from me.

But acceleration of the progress of the spiritually inclined is vital at this stage in human evolution to attain a certain necessary and critical mass in the egregore of Gaia before 2012. Lots of rules of secrecy that applied in previous centuries are being loosed because of the urgency of the race between the sane and insane for the survival of the planetary consciousness, as Eckhart Tolle would say.

That's why so much New Age stuff is arising. That's why the Goddess work is becoming respectable and wide spread. That's why the Grail work has blossomed again after so many centuries. That's why the fundamentalists are becoming stronger and stronger too.

It's analogous planetarily to the ego/mind complex finding ways to stop being shown up for what it is. Understanding these postings and doing what they suggest could save you my several apparently wasted incarnations as a magician, and all the work I've had to do this time in order to pick up on those who may benefit. My Blessings on your head whatever you do. Nothing is wasted in the end.

The first time I dealt with this stuff was as a priest/magician associated with the building of Babylonian ziggurats Those thousands of years are just a flicker of the eyelash cosmically but an awful number of lives ago. If you can do it, reach for the simple, now that you have attained the power to see it through the hard work you have done on your spiritual path, now reinforced with an acquaintance with a member of the most powerful runes of all.

Avoid the kumquat pies that are strategically posted to misdirect you to the broad and easy ways that eventually lead nowhere, or turn into circular paths and Broceliande mazes. They could waste centuries for you. You don't need to do that to be able to tell other people about the maze.

The way from mind to spirit is shaped like the rune IS. There is no simpler shape, and that is not a coincidence. It can indicate something as simple as a direction. In some lineages the path of IS leads to the North Star, the Eye of Odhinn. But behind the Eye of Odhinn is the Consciousness that looks out of Odhinn's Eye.

This is true of your eyes too. That Consciousness is the I of you. It is not a coincidence that IS looks like I. IS as I is the Way. It leads to the I consciousness of Divinity. And that's what you really are. Please no "Gee whiz, what a neat concept." This is for real, not for mental gymnastics. The quickest, simplest (not easy) way to make the journey from here to there is the tried and tested Hesychast/Sufi/Hindu technique that takes you along the straight line IS. . I probably won't say that again.
