That Essential First Meal

In the last post (sounds ominous), we dealt with what could be called Our First Medicine. The Celt in me loves things that come in threes, and this is the third post for the sake of the would be 2012 survivors. This is another First. The criteria of a First are these:

a. Found only in nature
b. Cannot be made in a laboratory
c. When eaten or drunk has very positive effects on the condition of health, no matter what the problem seems to be.
d. Has cured people considered beyond hope or terminally ill by conventional medicine.
e. Data on such healing potential backed by impeccable scientific and medical research.

The ‘one drug for one disease’ doctors of the 50’s and 60’s could not believe in vitamin therapy because so many different syndromes, each with their own medical name, could result from a deficiency in one vitamin, depending on the people who had the deficiency.

When the vitamin was supplied and the problem vanished the doctors could not accept the evidence because they were using the ‘cure’ word. The prevailing attitude in medicine was …'It isn’t possible for one substance to cure all those diseases. Therefore it doesn’t happen.’

So for decades, doctors whose Weight Watcher receptionist knew far more about nutrition than the doctor, felt it their professional duty to laugh at patients who took vitamins, even though the patients felt better. The phrase given to the doctors by the drug company salesman was “expensive urine.”

We, who are more interested in health than in disease must not fall into that trap.

According to Dr, Wallach there are 147 medical conditions that are due to calcium deficiency. And many are quite different from each other. They all disappear when calcium that can be assimilated by the body is given to the patient. Calcium didn’t cure but the patient was healed.

Urine therapy fulfills my five arbitrary Buchanan Criteria for a primary substance that can eliminate health problems. The First Essential Food is another.

The first few minutes after birth, when the biological blueprint calls for bonding with the mother, are vitally important to the future life of the child.

Medical interference with this crucial period for the sake of bureaucratic convenience leaves a life long, psychological scar on the child, because the blueprint is time based and can only be retraced later by one method, and that one method the child may never encounter. See Magical Child by Joseph Chilton Pierce.

Children taken away from the mother for those first vital twenty minutes or so can miss the bonding process, or part of it, and are obliged later in life to belong to groups or gangs as the only way they can feel whole.

Similarly, the first food that the blueprint has on the schedule for the baby is of crucial importance.

Unfortunately, many people born in the 50’s and 60’s did not get this food because of the brain washing, or possibly the bribing of the medical establishment by the baby formula companies. In most cases these children have carried with them a health handicap unknown to them.

During the first few days of breast feeding the baby doesn’t get milk. It gets a very complex compound called colostrum.

This amazing food gives the baby immunity from all sorts of possible health hazards, provides growth hormone, repair materials for the tissue damage, and much more, pages more in biochemistry books.

Babies who don’t get colostrum are at a greater risk for childhood infections, slower development and much else. And later on in life they experience the consequences of having a less effective immune system than they would have if breast fed.

So, let’s check on some of the major virtues of the First Meal.

A major matter is the tremendous boost given to the child’s developing immune system. The colostrum gives a boost to the thymus gland, which in turn produces the specialized lymphocytes called T-cells, named after the Thymus gland.

The cells produced by the thymus seed other organs and produce more T-cells. About 75% of the lymphocytes in blood and the lymph nodes come from, or had an ancestor who came from the thymus.

You sometimes read about T-cells in magazines filled with drug ads. A little data will be helpful. There are basically three kinds of T-cells produced by the action of the thymus.

The killer T-cells seek out body cells that are infected and destroy them by chemical means using different kinds of interferon to mess up the cell’s metabolism.

The helper T-cells increase the number of cells that seek out and engulf materials produced by an infection, and they help in the production of antibodies in the blood. These cells are often lacking in AIDS patients, and are vital parts of the immune system, like all T-cells. A constant reinforcement of T-cells by urine therapy may be the reason it works with many AIDS patients.

The suppressor T-cells regulate the production of antibodies by other specialized cells.

These defense cells all have to come in contact with the enemy cell in order to perform their function.

A related group of cells, very important in fighting cancer and viruses are the Natural Killer cells that can selectively seek and destroy such entities. These are of particular importance in another substance that fits all five Buchanan Criteria. Maybe another post.

The extremely important T-cell production is stimulated by the colostrum; obviously a boon to the defense system of the body of the new born child. That alone would be an obvious reason to breast feed the baby. But there is more.

Other major defenders of the body are not cells but biochemical substances known as antibody proteins. These can wipe out a whole range of bacteria and viruses.

They are found in a special group of proteins called immunoglobulins, Ig for short. There are five subsets of them, distinguished by letters of the alphabet.

Most of the antibodies in blood serum are in the IgG group, others found in saliva and milk are in the IgA group and the allergic reaction group is IgE.

These Ig’s are the most important components of colostrum. The five kinds of Ig are found in all mammals, and this of course includes humans. Each Ig has an unique set of targets and all of the Ig’s are found naturally in colustrum.

Some medical conditions are caused by an overactive immune system. Such auto immune diseases involve the body attacking its own cells. Other conditions are due to an under active immune system.

There is a hormone that regulates the thymus gland to remedy either of these conditions. It is Proline-rich Polypeptide (PRP), and is one of the important peptides found in colostrum.

Then there are the factors that assist in the growth of cells and replacement of tissue.

Three have become famous in the world of athletic stamina, healing and weight loss. The one that cost $800 an ounce last time I checked is the Insulin like Growth Factor, also known as IgF-1. If you remember any of your biochemistry you may associate it with the Kreb’s cycle, the way fat is burned for energy. It does much more.

Its actions include stimulation of T-cell production, acceleration of healing, balancing of blood sugar levels with reduction of the need for insulin, stimulation of muscle growth and regeneration (athletes) and increase in the metabolism of fat as a body fuel (weight reduction).

Daniel Shawn wrote in Iron Man Magazine, a forum for scientific body builders that IgF-1 found in colustrum “has a strikingly more anabolic effect than any known compound, even steroids.”

The Associate Editor ofMuscle and Fitness said that “IgF-1 is able to promote muscle growth all by itself.”

Of course the drug companies are trying desperately to patent extracts from colostrum, just as they do with urine. And similarly, it isn’t necessary to take expensive extracts when the natural substance contains everything in perfect balance all ready for consumption.

This IgF-1 is found naturally then in colostrum, and so is TgF-A and B which are the Transforming Growth Factor and Epithelial Growth Factor EgF. This trinity enables the body to do all the things mentioned, and also replace nearly every cell in the body, including cartilage.

These and dozens and dozens of other health, strength, and energy producing factors are all present in the colostrum, which the baby of many medically brain washed mothers doesn’t get.

It has been the subject of many thousands of studies in which, as in the case of urine, just about every disease in the book has succumbed to the amazingly potent health producing properties of colostrum.

But colostrum is only available for a couple of days after birth. What to do if you weren’t breast fed, and missed out? What if the problems you now have are on the list of those that colostrum can deal with?

The answer is bovine colostrum. This is the colostrum NOT the milk. Cow’s milk is not a suitable food for anything except calves, despite the PR efforts of the Milk Marketing Board and the pretty faces with white mustaches in the family zines. The only easily available milk that digests as easily as human milk is goat’s milk. It forms many little curds in the stomach instead of the great curd block of cow’s milk.

Bovine of course means from cows, and as in the case of all supplemental material it is up to the buyer to have a bit of sense. You don’t buy colostrum from a chemical fed, drug injected herd.

There is a source that gets its colostrum from a huge herd of over a million organically raised, disease free, pastured cattle. And the company that produces it specializes in producing the best possible animal derived products.

Your chiropractor, naturopath or acupuncturist may already carry this brand of colostrum.
And, as in the case of urine therapy, the populariser of this substance has been a very sick woman who recovered completely.

Medical treatments have fads, just like fashion. I had my tonsils and adenoids removed when a young boy because of the current fad among doctors. You may have encountered the circumcision fad (based on faulty logic), the Tums fad for calcium deficiency (it doesn’t work), or the aspirin a day therapy to keep the blood thin (unmentioned side effects), but the fad that this woman encountered was utterly crazy from a biological point of view.

She had respiratory problems so her doctors, loosely described as health care professionals, irradiated her thymus gland. It’s pretty hard for anyone with a sophomoric knowledge of human physiology to understand such stupidity posing as health care.

With her immune system shot to pieces by her health care providers she suffered from terrible medical problems for years, until she was told flatly that there was nothing more that medicine could do for her. She was waiting around to die when her faithful husband brought her some colostrum from a naturopath.

At first she refused to try it and suffer yet another disappointment. But her pain induced her to give it a shot. Now she is totally recovered from every immune deficiency based ailment, and her immune system is back, as is her youthfulness.

Hers is another inspiring story for those of us who want to follow nature’s way as much as possible in a polluted world. And as in the case of urine therapy there are myriads of scientific and medical references to research that is totally ignored because colostrum can’t be patented and sold as the property of a drug company.

The book she wrote is Colostrum…Life’s First Food by Kaye Wyatt and Daniel G. Clark M.D. Check on amazon.com or Abebooks.com and you will find used copies for under $2:00.

And the source of the colostrum? The company mentioned is Symbiotics the Colostrum Company. Just Google that and you will find dozens of sites about colostrum and its availability, as liquid, powder and capsules.

There are no side effects or overdose problems. This is a health giving food, not a medication.

Here is a little history that shows what you need to do to get the ignoramuses in Congress interested in something other than bribes from drug company lobbyists.

Berkley Bedell, a former Iowa Congressman had Lyme disease. The standard medical treatments left him suffering extreme fatigue, to the extent that he sometimes couldn’t even move.

Since it was impossible for him to discharge his duties under these conditions he was finally forced to look for alternative treatments.

He heard about a farmer who was gathering colostrum from his cows and selling it to people who were then healed of all manner of ailments.

He rented a colostrum cow from the farmer, used the colostrum, and in 48 hours had a complete recovery from his problems.

That will not surprise anyone who has read so far, and what happened afterward will not surprise anyone who has followed my health writings from other sources, over the years.

The farmer was arrested for practicing medicine without a license!

ANYONE who helps anyone recover from a disease that the medical profession can’t deal with is likely to be attacked by the lawyers of the greatest obstacle to the health of the American people, the American Medical Association, the trade union of physicians.

Now the injustice of this act of violence by the legal lackeys of the AMA actually broke through the programming of the gods in white coats that every American experiences. The congressman suddenly had an epiphany that there must be something wrong with a law that allowed such penalties to be applied to one human being helping another by supplying him with a completely natural substance that promoted healing.

So he got together with Senator Orrin Hatch from Utah, who had also benefited from non prescription remedies of the alternative kind. Together they drafted the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, got it through Congress and it was passed into law as PL 103-417.

It takes away from the FDA their powers of regulating dietary supplements, by putting the burden of proof on the agency that the substance is unsafe. That was in 1994. It was a step in the right direction.

The FDA does NOT represent the rights of the people to be protected from unscrupulous marketing of drugs. That’s a fiction, continually voiced. The FDA is totally biased in favor of big business as a matter of course because so many people go straight from the FDA to work at high salaries in the food industries and drug companies they have been supposed to be regulating. Then they become lobbyists for those industries because of the governmental contacts they made while in the FDA.

One example among thousands: When Searle was trying to get aspartame approved by the FDA long ago, some of the officials were doing their job and listening to research not presented by Searle. All of it was negative and spoke of the dangers to the visual centers and nervous system posed by aspartame.

Rumsfeld, whom you may remember, was chairman of the Board of Directors and he promised to break the log jam. He spoke to then President Reagan who fired the director of the FDA and appointed his own man. This new president then overruled the votes of his own committee and aspartame was approved. Almost immediately the new president resigned and went to work as a PR person for Searle and said he would give no press interviews about aspartame for ten years.

Yes, it was as blatant as that. And there are many other examples. Aspartame almost immediately went into 1200 products as a non-sugar sweetener. It breaks down above 84 degrees into methyl alcohol and formaldehyde. Both do great damage to the nervous system. The troops in the Gulf War drank lots of soda drinks containing aspartame, and often in temperatures well above 84 degrees. And the symptoms of the mysterious Gulf War Syndrome are pretty much the same as those of aspartame poisoning. But money can talk, and money can buy silence.

The lawyers of the medical associations are totally unscrupulous. They can twist words to make pregnancy count as a disease, or make the word ‘organic’ apply to radioactive sludge, or to sawdust from Oregon lumber mills put into bread as organic fiber. They were proud of their coup at making it illegal for milk producers to say that their milk did NOT contain bovine growth hormone.

But the Act was a start. Remember that the only thing that prompted the Congressman and the Senator into action was personal experience, and knowledge of the medical folks as an obstruction to health.

Keep your Congressman informed of what you think is important to your health or very soon ALL vitamins will be prescription only and then only the cheapest possible manufactured, synthetic substitutes of real vitamins at inflated prices.

And don’t think that just having laws like the one mentioned is going to stop the FDA from serving their real masters. Another little piece of history before I stop.

The company called Pharmanex made Cholestin, which is a safe, natural, dietary supplement that reduces cholesterol levels in mildly elevated cases. The problem for the FDA and their masters is that it works, and it isn’t a drug.

Recall as background that prescription drugs are the 4th leading cause of deaths in the USA. Way over 120,000 a year. All those drugs are approved by the FDA and prescribed by certified physicians. Now that total is more than the combined total of deaths due to AIDS, homicide and suicide, over 320 a DAY.

The FDA does NOTHING about that. In 1997 for instance they reported only 200 deaths from side effects because they only report deaths from new, previously unreported drug reactions. They are unconcerned about deaths from side effects they already know about.

These are the expert defenders of your health mentioned on all the labels. It’s like the reported unemployment figures that only report people who have applied for unemployment. Those whose unemployment is phased out or those who have given up aren’t in the figures. Typical spin. You must always know what the numbers mean.

A research report from the University of Toronto (not an American university please note) blew the whistle on the collusion between the FDA and the drug manufacturer Merck & Co. They made Mecavor to decrease cholesterol levels. It actually did this and also made the company over $850 million in that year. But the side effects were nausea, cramps and liver problems. When combined with other drugs it can cause muscle weakness and degeneration. Some animal studies suggest that it could pose a cancer risk.

Enter Cholestin. It is made from Chinese red yeast rice and the FDA does not deny that it lowers cholesterol, is a natural product, and has no side effects.

If the FDA were on the side of the public health they would welcome it. But because they are always on the side of big business now they tried to prevent its importation.

In June 1998 the FDA prevented several tons of red yeast rice from being imported by Pharmanex, the makers of Cholestin, as I said before.

Their ‘reason’ was that red yeast rice contains lovastin. This is a powerful cholesterol level depressor and also the active ingredient in the patented Mecavor.

It didn’t matter to the FDA that lovastin occurs naturally in the rice. They said that Cholastin is a supplement, and that under the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act it was illegal to sell it because it contained a prescription drug. Only a lawyer could make up a spin like that. Use the Act that protects the public to screw it.

Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of the English language would know that the Act refers to mixing a prescription drug with a supplement and then illegally calling it a supplement. But the FDA lawyers always twist the law for the benefit of their friends in big business.

Pharmanex does NOT mix the 100% purified, laboratory synthesized, crystalline lovastin into Cholestin. Cholestin just naturally contains the lovastin in the non-crystalline form found in red rice. So Pharmanex sued.

They won the case in federal court and U.S. District Judge Kimball allowed the importation, and ordered the FDA to stop interfering with Cholestin.

In his ruling he wrote that Pharmaex had “raised substantial and serious questions regarding the lawfulness of [the] FDA’s interpretation” of the federal statutes that govern it.”

The FDA as your tax money financed adjunct of the drug industry will carry on as usual. Meanwhile you may be interested in Cholestin or red rice. And recall this article when your magazine or broadcast program quotes the ‘experts’ in the FDA.
