Time/Distance Symbol...3rd
This symbol is the main reason that I wanted to do Reiki, to access totally inaccessible memories that I knew were part of a set of programs that were not optimum in my life. It worked, I must add. The symbol is written in kanji and the translations vary.
Mrs. Takata summarizes it as "The Buddha in me sees the Buddha in you." This is a Japanese version of the Hindu, Namaste, "The divinity in me greets the divinity in you."
Usui says it means, "This person has proper consciousness." William Rand's version is longer, "The Buddha in me reaches out to the Buddha in you to promote enlightenment and peace." The two Orientals could legitimately give the shorter versions because of what they could take for granted in the Buddhist traditions.
The symbol is made up of these kanji syllables, with these approximate meanings:
Hon...Center, Essence, Origin, Intrinsic nature
Sha...Shimmering Light
Ze...Advancing. Correct course.Moving ahead.
Sho...Target. Integrity. Enlightened sage.
Nen...Stillness. The depths of.
Taken together, the symbol is related to the bridge between the worlds, a wrinkle in the fabric of time and space that brings two different times and spaces next to each other. It's a little like the vacuum operated tubes at the drive in banking facilities.
Esoterically it is connected to RIT in the Magical Runes and to the twin horns of the Moon goddess symbols that connect two diverse places where the horns meet, in the 7th chakra, and to the headdress of the Tarot High Priestess that joins Wisdom and Understanding on the Tree behind her, and the Sajen and Zoave Dar’ Shem symbols of the first two degrees that join two worlds of differing vibratory rates..
This symbol, Nube S and Zoave allow you to send Reiki anywhere and anywhen. Runists can use it to send the Armanen UR too for healing, as a carrier wave in radio and TV carries the signal. You can, if you want to, send Reiki to the current space station or to the planets. To use UR with Dar’Shem you embed it in the dot.
But its great virtue for me is its ability to cross the ocean of time and reach any of the ports at which we have stopped on our long journey home. You can access the memory of an incident in this life, and by sending Reiki with the 3rd symbol or the appropriate Dar’Shem symbols you can heal old wounds and have the energy previously spent in nursing the memory, available for living in the present.
Nube Sh’lei-ma has a similar effect but is simultaneously nurturing in a feminine way to the circumstance you may be pulling back into memory. You may find compassion arising with the memory.
The release of the energy that has held some difficulty in place then travels toward you on the time track and heals EVERYTHING that depended in some way on that incident. The increase in life energy available to the individual concerned is sometimes explosive.
To most people this aspect of Reiki sounds like science fiction. The reason of course is that it is mainly in science fiction that the notion of time travel occurs. But Reiki deals with the Higher Self, and to that Self all time is now. It is the ego that collects pictures, puts them in order, thus inventing time, and says, "This is MY life."
In Dar’Shem the Swiss Army Knife for connecting places, things and times is Zoave, and everything with Hon She Ze So Nun works even better with Zoave for past life stuff. And as mentioned in connection with UR you can embed any Reiki symbol in the moving dot of Zoave, so it can do double duty.
Remember the meanings of the kanji. The Buddha is not a person; it is the Eternal Witness of the Play of Consciousness that most people regard as their personal lives.
Use of this symbol allows you to focus on any part of this movie on video, rewind, process it and change the rest of the movie, including the ending.
This is an immensely underused aspect of Reiki. I know Reiki Masters who have not gone back and fixed what was at the beginning of the chain of problems in their lives. But they could. And Dar’Shem people have wonderful tools specifically for this in Nube Sh’lei-ma and Zoave.
There are many ways of using the symbols that the Masters have found effective. Experiment is legitimate. Reiki is not a fundamentalist religion in which all is known and there is no more, and can be no more to it on pain of heresy.
The study of Reiki is not like the study of the Latin classics, with a great, though finite set of works which it is possible for a good scholar to master. Using Reiki is a method of finding new ways to use Reiki. You make this path by treading on it. It is boundless.
Some people who have encountered Dar' Shem have said to me, "I don't even use Reiki any more. Dar' Shem is so much more powerful." I submit that that is an understandable but short-sighted attitude. It was the possession of the Reiki symbols and channels in the subtle body that made the Dar' Shem so easy to access and understand. The general observation is of the more feminine nature of the Dar' Shem energy, and of course its connection with Sophia. But those who know the story of Sophia know that she is continually searching for her Bridegroom as Shakti is seeking Shiva. She is seeking an equilibrium of energy and form.
A matriarchal tyranny is no advance on a patriarchal tyranny. It is possible, and probably necessary for Reiki and Dar' Shem to be complementary to each other and to be used in the continuous evolution of the integrated healer.
Gender, polarity, and sex do NOT have identical meanings and there seems to be a human tendency to come down on one side of one of these when the psyche begins to access healing energies, instead of letting the two sides co-exist or even cooperate as in all of nature. Every alchemist could testify that that is a limiting attitude. And the alchemists were all men seeking the feminine source of creation, the Virgin Matter. Enough about that for those that can, or wish to hear.
Using #3 in Reiki or Nube in Dar’ Shem is a two step process. First of all you need to find a focal point to represent the absent or distant person or circumstance.
.
If you know only a name, that's OK, you are dealing with the ultimate search machine.
A photograph is a good focal point or the ubiquitous teddy bear. Some writers have suggested using your own body parts as a substitute, the left thigh for the front of their body and the right thigh for the back. And myriads of variations. In my own work I NEVER ever use my own body for reasons gone into a little further on.
I do prefer the photograph method myself, but that may be because of fifty years without mental pictures and with poor powers of visualization. (Usui preferred it too, no doubt for a different reason. That visualization condition no longer exists so my picture preference may be treated as my own inertia, not a recommendation.
The photo system can be used in several ways, and now there are computers there are also new ways that the previous Reiki folk didn't have.
If you have a photo, then hold it in your non-dominant hand. Say the name of the person and draw the symbol you are using over it with the palm or fire finger of the other hand. Say the name of three times as you do this. Intend to send the Reiki, and off it goes.
The initial actions make the connection and some people feel the Reiki flowing even more strongly than when a client is on the table. This is particularly true, in my experience, of people who don't like groups very much and really prefer being solo. Many of them incidentally have lynx as their power animal. And these people too are the ones who are very successful in using Mindscape and the workshop to do their healing. Those who can do that well are always good at distant healing.
My own practice, after making contact, is to visualize consecutive times on a clock face, affirming that the Reiki is sent every hour or every day or whatever seems appropriate. Clairvoyants and psychics among us and our clients have reported the influx of energy. In my own case I have had not totally humorous requests to send it later in the day because the recipient doesn't usually get up for several hours after I do.
This is so simple that the mind rebels seeking something more complex. You may have had problems trying to explain this to your students. If my student is having a problem with the concept I ask them to pass me the honey, or a pencil, or some small thing, depending on where we are at the time.
Then I point out the amazing thing that they just did. They used their non material will to activate the nervous system of a human body and to cause a wonderful coordinated muscles and bones and eye action to occur. And yet there was no actual physical connection between the body that obeyed the command and the will that initiated it. Thousands of times a day we bridge that gap and pick things up, and it is so commonplace that the wonder of it is not apparent until we stop and contemplate what we did.
And then sometimes we eat what we picked up and perform other miracles by which the atoms and molecules of the picked up thing are fitted into our own bodies. A miracle also not appreciated because it is common. What a cat eats becomes a cat. What you eat becomes you. Yet you could both eat sardines for example. Same raw material rearranged like the alchemist's solve et coagula. Think about it.
This is like unto the miracle of the initiation of motherhood. It is a cosmic act of creativity that changes the person, the mother, but because it is common, and men don't do it, it is undervalued. Explanations like this will give your student mental flexibility and they will be able to invent new ways of using Reiki, instead of being confined to those you teach them.
On with photographs. If you have a large one you can prop it up, name it, announce that the Reiki you send it will be transferred to the person and that's it.
Sometimes I have a specific list of people to deal with whose photographs I have. In this case I sometimes scan the photos onto a diskette, put them in my computer, set up my viewing screen and set a timer. As the photographs appear one by one at set intervals I am continually Reikiing the screen and nobody gets missed. If you don't have a photograph then you can write the name on paper and treat the paper like the photograph.
The teddy bear system is simple. I lay the bear down and draw the symbol over it, saying it three times, with some such affirmation as, "As I do a Reiki treatment on this bear so I will be doing a treatment on ....(saying the name) ."
You don't need a big bear. Mine is small enough to sit on my computer and has never been sick since I began using it as a substitute client. I have claimed it to be the healthiest teddy bear in Illinois. When I am away and don't have the bear I use a pillow.
I NEVER use the system found in some books of substituting my own body parts as the body of the receiver. From my magical experience I get the definite impression that not being in the actual presence of the person does modify some of the avenues of communication. That holds an implication that there could be a remote possibility of a negative connection.
The Reiki will be fine of course, but it may not be smart to put parts of your body into resonance with negative stuff in the other person that you cannot easily perceive in absentia. Far out, but possible. So I don't do it.
The most amazing thing about the symbols we are discussing and the most underutilized power of them as far as I can see, is their power to access past and future. When a group of us were planning a magical, shamanic and spiritual pilgrimage in the 90's, the person who became our first Reiki Master spent the intervening weeks sending energy to the major site. Some sensitives in the group who did not know about that beforehand all picked up on the extra energy available to us when we eventually arrived as a group to do the work, weeks later.
Look at the principle not the specifics. It didn't have to be a spiritual pilgrimage. It could have been a job interview, or your driving test, or the operating room.
A simple way to do this is to write the place, date, and occasion on a piece of paper and Reiki the paper as you say the name three times. The effect, which you can check for yourself, is to send the energy ahead in time, so that when you and your body eventually arrive it will be available as an harmonizing influence for you.
The same method can be used for past events. This miracle was the main reason I wanted to learn Reiki. I used it, for example, to address a time and place where I was around the age of seven, when I knew something happened but couldn't recall it. I sent the Reiki back to the approximate time, helped by an affirmation attached to #2, that I was WILLING to recall the situation and see it healed.
After five minutes I went about my day and left it in the hands of the Reiki. Since I didn't know what I was looking for I reasoned that I couldn't know how to find it either, and I wasn't about to put pre-conceived conditions on it that may have interfered. Some ten minutes later while busy at some mindless task, I received all kinds of memories that cleared up many misunderstoods for me. Once again it is the principle that is important. The example is just a memory aid for students, you will no doubt have your own.
Most skeptics of what they call mind reading say they don't believe in mind reading at all. Yet they are illogically and arrogantly certain, in spite of this that they know how to design experiments that will prove or disprove the matter. Since they don't actually know how it happens, and in fact are convinced that it doesn't, their pre-conceived ideas on how to disprove it must send them on a wild goose chase.
The same applies to your research into the past. Don't embed pre-conceived concepts into the process. Just let it happen. For those interested, there is the obvious avenue of healing past lives whose brought-over debris are messing up this one. You can do no harm using the Reiki in this way, which is more than I can say about some of the systems of past life regressions that I have encountered.
Another splendid use of the symbols was suggested by the Harvard Business School study of those who were most successful in their financial and personal careers. The whole affair has been thoroughly documented. The principle always works. Everyone in their famous MBA program, and some other programs, was encouraged, though not obligated, to write down their personal, career and financial goals.
Years later, the follow up study showed that only 3% of the students had actually written down their goals as suggested. The total income of that 3% exceeded the total income of the other 97%.
Obviously writing down goals helps a lot. And it is possible to ally to that fact using the symbols we are discussing.
Writing down a goal on a piece of paper seems such a simple thing to do. But metaphysically it is very important. What was once only a part of the inner world of the person is now outside. A part of what was wanted has actually been manifested in the 3D world of matter, energy, space and time.
It takes a bit of contemplation to realize the important difference between a goal that is only in the head and one that is outside the head in some way. By writing down your goal, or by drawing a picture of it, or by pasting magazine pictures that symbolize your goal onto a piece of paper, you have done a very significant thing.
If you are going to paste pictures of your new car, or cottage in the country, or whatever, on a piece of paper you should always draw a frame around them. For the subconscious this is a way to distinguish this set of pictures from all the other pictures it makes and sees all day. It concentrates the focus of your activity. Now you can Reiki the paper of your goal, written or drawn with the Time/Distance symbols of the Reikis.
Doing this regularly or frequently seems to have the effect of aligning your nervous system to resonate and harmonize with the goal. It prepares the soil of the garden of the Empress. You will see opportunities that otherwise you would have missed. You will sense a significance for you in people that you would otherwise not even notice. By giving Reiki to the external symbol of your goal you have set up antennae of a special-goal-radar that will be effortlessly and constantly working for you.
Using Zoave the Dar’ Shem practitioner will have an even easier time connecting the current situation with the wanted one. And the dot can be used to transfer calendar data. A nod is as good as a wink to a blind gargoyle.
And there is a bonus. Some goals, though apparently desirable are not actually optimum when achieved. If the goal dreamed up by your intellect or emotions is actually not for your highest good, then using Reiki as described will bring about cognitions of how the goal could be modified to achieve your higher purposes, with harm to none and benefit to all concerned.
For the MBA crowd the index of success was the financial success of the individuals in the survey. That was the only criterion because it was easy to measure and valued by all.
The work with Reiki and Dar’Shem deals with the holistic picture of what is optimum for you, and doesn't deal only with things that can be graphed, measured or weighed; though these are certainly part of the universe affected by it. In all the 'writing down on paper' systems you can carry the paper around and Reiki it during the day. There will thus be a continuous reinforcement of access to energies, insights, information, people, and otherwise unexpected nudges towards your written-down goal.
This is a valuable principle that can be applied elsewhere. But that is for you to explore. There are more esoteric uses of the Time/Distance symbol, Nube Sh’ lei-ma and Zoave that can often take the place of the quite complex rituals of other paths. It can be used to remove what are often called 'negative spirits' from houses and sites, instead of using exorcisms.
This is because experience suggests that the so-called spirits may not necessarily come under the religious category of 'evil.' They may be just bewildered, or even unaware that their body died some time ago, or for several other reasons.
It is also possible, as several of our members have shown, to aid in the transition of a person or animal. The Time/Distance symbol and symbols 4 and 5 of Dar’Shem enable a practitioner to cross the vibratory barrier of the death of the body, and follow the higher vibratory level spirit.
You may have the opportunity to help earth-bound spirits get free from a locality where they are being a nuisance to people who want to live in those places. Here is a simple workable system that I have found effective. Send Reiki to the entity or entities with the Distance Symbol, simultaneously asking your guides, Reiki Masters, angels and whatever spiritual beings or resources you have, to show those entities or spirits to the Light.
This can be done to aid in transition and to depossess what seems to be haunted property, even if the property is a human being under possession by an intruder.
It is ESSENTIAL in the latter case that you fully realize that the power you are applying is not your own. It is NOT a contest between you and the spirit, as it is in some religious and magical rituals. If you get your ego involved here in a competitive manner you will fail miserably, and could encounter problems. It is always a good practise when doing this kind of work to to surround yourself with the Power Symbol in the six directions, and put it in all your chakras before starting. Placing Dar’ Bhatet on the walls, ceiling and floor of the room always help remove embedded negativity.
Next time we deal with this topic it will be with the Master Symbol of Usui and anything in the first two Dar’Shem degrees that could coordinate with it.
