Politicians love to label themselves as practical men with a common sense approach to problems. Unfortunately there are problems where common sense is of little value without having an informed mind. And when you consider that the profession of politics is the only one that hasn’t even an entrance examination of some sort, the absence of informed minds in politics isn’t all that surprising.
