As the years go by, or rather swish by for long lived people, it seems as if almost every day of the year becomes an anniversary of something or other. Today, May 8th is the anniversary of D-day when Allied troops landed in Europe and began the pincer movement with the Russians that ended WWII in Europe. Thanks to the over five million German soldiers killed on the Russian front the Battle of the Bulge ended in victory for the Allies.
May 9th 1945 is the anniversary of the surrender of the German forces. May is quite a month for anniversaries.
