Bo Lozoff together with Ram Dass founded the Prison Ashram Project and has visited more than 1100 prisons showing prisoners that they can be inwardly free. He estimates that 80% of the convicts he has met should not be in prison. He wrote the book We are all doing Time which I can recommend highly. The following is one of his pieces made famous because Paul Harvey read it over the air. It’s a fine message to the religious about being spiritual instead.
I have many correspondents and previous clients who ask if there are any principles that could be applied to healing modalities like Reiki, Dar’ Shem, Body Talk, Metamorphosis, Cranio-Sacral therapy, Quantum Touch etc., that all come under the heading of energy work. This is the gist of the letter I send or my reply, with matters personal to the correspondent deleted. I hope it will be of interest, though it only skims the surface of an immensely deep subject.
I received this today over the Web. I checked the usual sources for a hoax since what it suggests is so totally different from any usual political process as to appear incredible. So far it doesn’t come up as a hoax. The people mentioned are practically a hit list for folks like the Skeptical Inquirer, which should be a qualification for many readers. I’m surprised it took so long to get here but it may indeed be a petition worth signing. I checked the petition site and it seems genuine. Two correspondents and a recent restaurant contact mentioned acupuncture in our conversations and this made me recall a lot of stuff. Here’s some of it.
On June 27th 2008 the Supreme Court upheld the Second Amendment right to bear arms for self defense, and struck down the thirty year old Washington DC handgun ban. This of course has raised screams of anguish from people who haven’t actually read the Bill of Rights and who can make cheap political points by ‘tough on crime’ speeches.
As allopathic physicians usually focus on the symptoms rather than the cause so the general public and its representatives seem to look at problems and band-aids for them rather than to seek the underlying cause. Error correction instead of goal correction. A good recipe for disaster.
Every now and again I get something over the Web that screams to be passed on. This one does. It was written by history specialist Pam Geller, not by me. Many of the points here I have made or alluded to in other posts but this is a fine extract of what the problem really is in this country, based on the 1913 chicanery of Jeckyll Island and getting stronger every day as the apathetic public becomes more helpless with every new unpublicized regulation. Pam and I are not political clones by any means, but I have a fondness for material based on observation and reason and both are here.
